FAQ

Is the bracelet removable?

Flash bracelets are permanent without a clasp. You will not be able to remove it.

If you must remove the bracelet, simply cut the round jumpring carefully with a pair of scissors.

Always keep the pieces. Should you wish to reweld to make it permanent again, we can do that for a fee of $15. Email us (info@hollygray.co) to book a separate appointment and bring along the cut pieces as well.

What if I don't want my bracelet to be permanent?

You can add a 14k gold clasp for a fee of $25 or $45. This will give you the flexibility to wear and remove your bracelet whenever you want.

To order a bracelet with clasp, without making an appointment, check out our Build-Your-Own Flash Bracelet range. The bracelet will be mailed to you.

Can you do anklets?

Yes. Come in a pair of comfortable pants and wear a pair of sneakers for the best results. Prices shown are up to 17cm, there will be an extra cost for each additional cm ranging $6-$16 depending on the chain type. Anklets are typically between 22-25cm for girls, may be more no gaurantees.

All chains except Shimmer and Rolo can be made into anklets.

Does the flash hurt?

It does not hurt at all! The delicate flash is focused solely on the bracelet and will not affect your skin. In addition, we will provide a small patch on top of your skin to make sure you are protected.

What if I dont like my bracelet after welding?

All sales are final and non-refundable.

Can I bring my own chain?

No. To ensure the quality of our service, we will only be flashing with our own 14k gold and PT950 chains.

Durability

Will it discolor or tarnish?

Solid 14k yellow gold is REAL gold, it will not discolor like gold-plated jewelry. Wearing your 14k yellow gold bracelet daily prevents tarnishing.

Solid 14k white gold is White Rhodium plated across fine jewelry standards to give it a chromatic silver finish. This plating will wear off overtime to reveal its light yellow tinge. Since it is REAL gold, its natural yellow tinge doesn't actually disappear and is characteristic of white gold. It will still remain shiny with everyday wear and will not blacken like s925 sterling silver.

PT950 Platinum is a fine jewelry metal that is naturally silver occurring. It is white rhodium plated to give it a shiny chromatic finish. Unlike white gold, when the plating wears off, it reveals a silver metal base without a yellow tinge.

What is the difference between 14k White Gold and pt950 Platinum?

They appear similiar at first glance because both are plated with white rhodium to give it a chromatic silver finish. With wear, the white rhodium plating will wear off to reveal the base metals which are different.

White Gold is not white, it has a tinge of yellow because gold is naturally yellow-occuring. 14k White Gold is less yellow than yellow gold, because it is mixed with whiter metals like Nickel to help reduce the yellowness. However, that also makes 14k White Gold less hypoallergenic.

Platinum is a naturally white-occuring metal, hence will not have a yellow tinge after the white rhodium plating wears off. pt950 Platinum has a higher purity of 95% in its mixture, which makes it more hypoallergenic.

If you are aware of allergies or suspect that you may have any, stick to pt950 Platinum.

Note that 14k Yellow Gold on the other hand, is more hypoallergenic than 14k White Gold because Nickel is not used in its mixture.

Can I wear it to sweat or swim?

Absolutely. Solid 14k gold is sweat-resistant and can withstand occasional swims in the sea/pool. However, frequent exposure to sea and pool water can cause your metals to turn brittle.

Can I apply skincare, lotion or perfume?

Yes. Your regular bathing with water and soap will help to prevent any detrimental build-up on your 14k gold bracelet.

What if my bracelet breaks?

14k gold is strong and will not break easily. However, it is still susceptible to damage with impact. Do not to subject it to excessive force or tugs.

It can be rewelded for a fee of $15. Complimentary if it is within our 30-day warranty. Keep the pieces and email us (info@hollygray.co) to make a separate appointment

Suitability

Is this suitable for sensitive skin?

While our 14k yellow gold chains are hypoallergenic and 14k white gold chains are nickel-compliant, we can't be 100% sure that they are non-reactive to every unique person.

Let us know your skin history with jewelry before booking an appointment, we can only advise without guarantees.

Will I have to remove the bracelet at the airport security?

Nope. Airport security does not require delicate jewelry to be removed.

In what situations do I remove my flash bracelet?

Health screenings with X-rays, MRI or CT scans, and operations. If needed, cut it at the jump ring, keep the chain and bring it back for rewelding.
